LIGHT A CANDLE FOR AIDS AWARENESS WEEK

10 November, 2002

One of Australia’s favourite female artists – Jenny Morris – will perform at the 2003 Candlelight AIDS Memorial to mark the start of AIDS Awareness Week.

"We are delighted to have Jenny Morris as our key performer on the night and we hope to make this a very special and moving Candlelight Memorial," said ACON President Adrian Lovney.

"The memorial will be held at Green Park in Darlinghurst on Monday 24 November, the start of AIDS Awareness Week.

"The annual Candlelight Memorial is a time for many of us to reflect on our experiences of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and to remember our friends and loved ones.

"The Reading of the Names is a significant part of the evening and I would encourage people to come forward with names for the list and to come along on the night to show support," Mr Lovney said.

"Red Ribbon volunteers are also needed for Friday and Saturday November 28 and 29 as well as World AIDS Day on Monday December 1. To volunteer call 9206 2024 or email redribbon@acon.org.au, " Mr Lovney said.
