Honour Yourself With 5-Star Auction Bargains
24 August 2011
Bid on amazing silent auction bargains including a 5-star trip to New York for 2.
With only one week left to submit nominations for this year's Honour Awards, organisers have started revealing some of the fabulous items that will be up for grabs at this year's Honour Awards silent auction, including a 5-star trip to New York, a new wardrobe of bespoke suits, and a year's worth of VIP tickets to Sydney's leading cultural events.
The Honour Awards - NSW's annual gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community awards - are a gala fundraising event for ACON, NSW's and Australia's largest GLBT health and HIV/AIDS organisation.
As part of the evening, finalists and guests will be able to bid on a range of sensational silent auction items including fashion, beauty, entertainment and travel experiences as well as an impressive range of art, homewares, mobile devices and professional services. In all, up to 40 bargains will be ripe for the picking at the Honour Awards ceremony and cocktail party at the Ivy in Sydney on Thursday 29 September.
Leading the offer is a business class trip for two to New York City on United Airlines with three nights' accommodation at the 5-star Jewel Hotel in Manhattan and dinner over the famous Rockefeller Plaza ice-skating rink.
Other items include five tailor-made business suits as well as an exclusive Arts package with VIP tickets to Sydney's most celebrated cultural events including productions by Bell Shakespeare, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and a private tour of the forthcoming Picasso exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW.
ACON CEO Nicolas Parkhill says all proceeds from the silent auction, as well as ticket sales to the awards ceremony, will help fund ACON's vital community health services.
"We're delighted to be offering guests at the Honour Awards such an amazing array of silent auction items and we thank all the donors for their contribution as well as 360 Management Group for securing many of these items," Mr Parkhill says.
Mr Parkhill says guests at the event will also help celebrate the achievements of GLBT people and service to the GLBT community.
"There's only one week left before nominations for the awards close and we're keen to get as many nominations as possible. We all hear lots of wonderful and moving stories of how people from all walks of life are helping or inspiring others in our community and that's what we want to celebrate through the Honour Awards," Mr Parkhill says.
Nominations can be submitted in six categories covering the business, health, education, community, legal, political, media and cultural sectors. Nominations are free and can be submitted on the Honour website (www.honourawards.com.au). There is also a range of gifts and prizes to be won.
