HIV Sero-Conversion Recognition + Testing
When a person is newly infected with HIV they may show no signs of infection. Some people go through what is called a ‘sero-conversion illness’ and show flu-like symptoms that may include fever, swollen glands, sore throat and rashes. Symptoms if they occur will generally present between 2-6 weeks after exposure.
HIV tests should be considered after any anal sex without condoms to protect your own and your partners’ health. Using condoms and lube remain the most effect way to prevent HIV transmission.
