Hong Kong partnership

In December 2008, a delegation from AIDS Concern Hong Kong visited ACON to share information on a range of health promotion programs. This connection has now developed into a long term partnership and in 2009 we undertook a series of staff exchanges with AIDS Concern following a successful funding application to the Australia China Council.

NGO and health care worker training

In partnership with the Albion Street Centre, ACON delivered training to a range of NGO health promotion staff and clinical care staff working with MSM communities in Hong Kong in September 2008. This training included:

• Internet use
• HIV positive people and prevention
• Drug use and sex among MSM
• Working with sex venues and sex parties
• Site visits to small NGOs to assess and provide advice on current programming challenges
