Volunteer Opportunities
The Positive Living Centre (PLC) provides a range of structured programs, special events, social and health promotion activities for people with HIV and their friends and carers. Volunteers can help in numerous ways and are an integral part of the team.
- Complementary Therapies - The PLC offers a wide range of complementary therapies for clients including: Lomi Lomi massage, Acupuncture, Naturopathy, Counselling, Bowen therapy, a medical herbalist, Swedish and Remedial massage. The PLC is always looking for qualified/experienced therapists to join the team on a volunteer basis.
- General - The PLC relies on the generosity of volunteers to help run the centre by performing administration tasks, front of house duties and welcomes all involvement. We are always looking for volunteers with a current driver's license.
- Kitchen area - Volunteers are needed to assist the chef in the kitchen on Tuesdays and Fridays with meals and cleaning, as well as special events.
- Gardens - There are 2 community garden spaces available for volunteer input. There is also the PLC courtyard and the indoor plants at the centre which need some love and attention.
The PLC particularly welcomes people with HIV to become volunteers and to get involved. It's a great way to meet peers, make new friends and possibly develop new skills or brush up on past skills.
