Becoming a Volunteer for HIV/AIDS Neurocognitive Research

 

The University of New South Wales and St. Vincent's Hospital are conducting a study to better understand whether HIV infection may cause increase risk for developing memory and attentional difficulties in middle-aged persons. To better understand this issue HIV-negative volunteers are needed.

Participation to the study is voluntary and is based on the following criteria:

  • Being 45 years old or older.
  • Being in good health (we will assess your health with a short screening questionnaire)
  • Male only (the ideal number of female participants has been reached)

The study involve two visits at 18 months interval, and each consists of neuropsychological testing of attention, memory, visuo-spatial and language functions and also a head MRI scanning (lying quietly in the MRI scanner).

Study results will be made available to you and your doctor of choice upon request. Travel/parking cost will be reimbursed.
