Homophobic Crime Remains Unreported

We may have become more tolerant as a society, but homophobia remains a real issue for GLBT Australians. According to the AIDS Council of NSW, Mardi Gras weekend will see a spike in attacks. But police are warning that they will be out in force adopting a zero tolerance approach to homophobic crime.

AVP ‘Speak Up’ Campaign

Launched in February 2010, the Lesbian and Gay Anti-Violence Project’s ‘Speak Up’ campaign aims to increase the number of GLBT people who report homophobic violence to the police and to the Anti-Violence Project (AVP). Key partners for the campaign are NSW Police Force and City of Sydney.
