Sydney’s first LGBTQ+ health centre is taking registrations before it opens in late March.
Situated in the Belltower building on Gadigal land in Sydney’s South Eveleigh precinct, the Kaleido Health Centre will deliver inclusive, multi-disciplinary, integrated health care for LGBTQ+ people and their families in NSW across the state.
The building’s newly revamped purpose-fitted interior is designed to create a calm and modern welcoming environment while retaining heritage features.
Kaleido Health Centre will provide LGBTQ+ people access to a range of primary care and specialist health services including general practice, sexual health services, mental health support, gender-affirming health care, drug and alcohol interventions, cancer screening services and more.
On opening, six GP’s will be working from the centre. Registrations for initial services are now open online on the Kaleido Health website: kaleidohealth.org.au.
Michael Woodhouse, ACON CEO & Kaleido Health Interim CEO, said:
“ACON established the Kaleido Health Centre because our communities deserve the highest level of care designed by us, for us. Too often we hear stories of people who say they can’t find safe, welcoming care that understands their lives.
“Kaleido Health will provide integrated care specifically designed to meet the needs of LGBTQ+ people and their families, across a wide range of health services, accessible state-wide.”
Daniel McCarthy, Kaleido’s Clinical Services lead, said:
“Kaleido Health Centre was created to be more than just a health service—it’s a safe, inclusive, and affirming space where LGBTQ+ people in New South Wales can access high-quality, integrated care tailored to their unique needs.
“Our hope for Kaleido is that it becomes a trusted and essential part of the community, where people feel seen, respected, and supported in every aspect of their health journey.”
Kaleido Health is being delivered as part of the NSW Government’s LGBTIQ+ Health Strategy 2022-2027 with funding of $4.2m.
Woodhouse added: “We are extremely grateful for the support of the NSW Government in making Kaleido happen, particularly Health Minister Ryan Park.
“We also thank our partners in the NSW Health system, especially Sydney Local Health District, who have been crucial to the development of this service, as well as our other partners Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network and St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney.”
Ryan Park, NSW Minister for Health said:
“The Kaleido Health Centre will be a welcoming, purpose-built space where LGBTQ+ people can access vital healthcare services without barriers.
“This is a significant step forward in delivering the NSW Government’s LGBTIQ+ Health Strategy and ensuring everyone can access the care they need, when and where they need it.
“We’re proud to invest in this initiative and build a more inclusive healthcare system for all.”
Kaleido will also work with other partners including Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network, St Vincent’s Health Network Sydney, and with other health organisations, specialists and allied health practitioners to provide additional services.
The Kaleido team will have a stall at Mardi Gras Fair Day in Victoria Park this Sunday 16 February where attendees can register and find out more about the health centre’s services. In the lead-up to Kaleido’s opening in late March, a Community Open Day will be held for interested people to discover more about the centre.
